A grassroots club at the heart of High Lane
High Lane Football Club is a grassroots football club based in the village of High Lane, part of the borough of Stockport, Cheshire and close to the main city of Manchester.
Our story
From two parents to a village institution
The club was founded in 1985 as High Lane Junior Football Club by Paul Kenneth and Stewart Clay, because there was no local football club for their sons to join. An Under 11s team was formed and entered the Stockport Metro Junior Football League, finishing 11th out of 14 in the division in its first season.
The club went from strength to strength over the coming years, changing its name in 2008 to High Lane Football Club and developing into the thriving community club we see today.
Due to the ongoing success of both the junior football club and its senior section, the club attracts players not only from the local village but from the surrounding towns and villages too.

Four moments that shaped the club
- 1985
The club is founded
Paul Kenneth and Stewart Clay founded High Lane Junior Football Club because there was no local team for their sons to join. An Under 11s side entered the Stockport Metro Junior Football League, finishing 11th out of 14 in its first season.
- 2003
FA Charter Standard
Supported by FA partner McDonald's, the club becomes only the second in the Stockport Metro Junior Football League to earn FA Charter Standard Club status.
- 2008
A new name
High Lane Junior Football Club becomes High Lane Football Club, reflecting the growth of its senior section and its place at the heart of the village.
- 2012
Community Club status
The club reaches the pinnacle of the Charter Standard programme, achieving FA Charter Standard Community Club status.
