Jensen hit a hat-trick as High Lane Hawks beat Richmond Rovers Sampdoria, with sharp passing, effective pressing and a promising new formation underpinning a superb team performance.
High Lane Hawks put together a fantastic team performance to beat Richmond Rovers Sampdoria, combining a ruthless touch in front of goal with some excellent football across the pitch.
Jensen led the scoring with a hat-trick, but this was a day when every player had a part to play.
A different formation gave the Hawks something new to get to grips with, and their response was one of the biggest positives of the match. The shape looked promising, with the players working together, moving the ball well and finding ways to create opportunities for one another.
That teamwork carried through to their play without the ball. The Hawks pressed high up the pitch, putting Richmond Rovers under pressure and winning possession back effectively. Their willingness to work for each other helped make the pressing a real strength of the performance.
With the ball, the Hawks’ passing was particularly pleasing, and they made their attacking work count. Alongside Jensen’s three goals, Hugo and Charlie each scored twice, while LeBron and Dougie added a goal apiece. Five different scorers shared the nine goals, giving the team plenty to celebrate.
Harrison earned a thoroughly deserved Man of the Match award for a brilliant all-round display. His excellent work rate stood out, while his passing in the final third was another highlight of a match in which the Hawks used the ball so well.
Beyond the scoreline, this was an encouraging step for the players and a performance for everyone at High Lane to be proud of. The Hawks now have plenty to build on in training, where they will continue developing the new formation and the passing and pressing that served them so well.
