Stockport County Grassroots Fund 26/27

High Lane FC’s soccer school is set for a fresh start with support from Stockport County’s Grassroots Fund. The club has successfully secured a grant for the 2026/27 season, helping to supply equipment for the relaunch and giving girls and boys a welcoming place to begin their footballing journeys.

High Lane is one of 23 grassroots clubs across Stockport receiving support through the fund. Stockport County has awarded almost £20,000 in direct grants alongside £10,000 worth of equipment vouchers — an investment that will reach young footballers across the borough.

Stockport County’s Community Trust facilitated applications to the fund. For High Lane, that process has led to practical support for the soccer school, with the grant helping the club prepare for a new intake of budding players.

The relaunched sessions will take place weekly on Sunday mornings at High Lane Cricket Club. The focus is on girls and boys looking to start playing football, making this an opportunity for families to introduce their children to the game in a local setting.

Those first sessions are about more than learning to kick a ball. They offer children the chance to grow in confidence, make friends and discover the pleasure of playing together. Having equipment ready to support that experience is an important part of giving newcomers a positive start.
