U12s Flag Bearers at County

High Lane FC’s U12s Hawks and Falcons enjoyed a day to remember as flag bearers at Stockport County’s match against Blackpool. The visit gave both teams the chance to take part in the occasion before settling down to watch the game.

For players used to their own youth football fixtures, this was a different way to spend a matchday. County’s meeting with Blackpool provided the backdrop, with the High Lane youngsters getting a taste of the build-up from the pitch rather than simply watching from the stands.

The highlight came before the match, when the Hawks and Falcons took to the pitch with their flags. It was their moment to play a part in the day’s events and represent High Lane FC on a stage beyond their usual weekend football.

Once their flag-bearing duties were over, attention turned to the game itself. Having helped set the scene, the players could now enjoy watching County take on Blackpool — two different sides of a matchday wrapped up in one visit.

Shared experiences like this are a lovely part of growing up in a grassroots club. Alongside training and matches, they give young players something else to talk about with their team-mates and remember together. For High Lane, having both the Hawks and Falcons involved made the occasion all the more special.

Next comes a return to their own football, with a memorable day at County to look back on. Whether carrying a flag or pulling on a High Lane shirt, being part of a team is at the heart of it — and this visit gave our U12s another experience to share.
